Main title (uncredited) Written and performed by Ramin Javadi. Let’s say you’re reading these reviews and haven’t watched GoT yet, but now that it’s over, you’re thinking about a marathon. In this case, the consensus is correct, namely: Seasons 1-6: outstanding. Deep world-building, intelligent dialogue, epic sets worthy of Hollywood, professional acting, detailed plot, real surprises, great soundtrack, used wisely. “GoT” is definitely worth watching in these seasons.
There are inexplicable ideas, contradictory characteristics and soap opera dramas
The seventh season: you suddenly notice that the quality of the script and plot has dropped sharply. But at least the entertainment value is still very high, so it passes. Season 8: He lowers the abyss to depths you never thought possible. The writing has become so amateurish that even fantastic production values are no longer enough to save it. If you’ve ever enjoyed Staying Alive but were shocked by how bad the last season was, then you’re in familiar territory.
Fatal for fiction
The biggest problem with the final season was that it took us away from the story and made us think about its many weaknesses. We have lost our suspension of disbelief. It also messed up the arcs of the series to the point that rewatching the entire series is pointless. Can I recommend a GoT marathon to newbies? Yes, the first 6 seasons are worth disappointments in the future.
But it is not the best series of all time
It might be, but losing the ball in the final stretch puts it behind the next great series more worthy of your marathon: Star Cruiser Galactica (2003-2008) Twin Peaks (all 3 seasons plus the movie) Breaking Bad
